Originally from the Manchester, England, Chris Maclean is Creative Director for branding consultancy, RE – part of the M&C Saatchi Group. He was formerly Executive Creative Director for Interbrand Australia and has been a practicing designer of over 14 years. For Chris, branding means influence – the power to make things better, to inspire populations, to change minds, and on occasion, change the world.
His work has helped transform many iconic Australian brands such as Sydney Opera House, Opera Australia, Griffin Theatre Company, Darling Harbour, Alzheimer’s Australia, Queensland Art Gallery. During his time in Australia Chris has rebranded both of Australia’s largest telcos including the colourful rebrand of Australia’s biggest brand, Telstra in 2011 and most recently the rebrand of Optus.
In 2012, he was recognised as one of Australia’s Power 20 by Australian Creative magazine for bravery in the creative industry. Chris has been recognised by some of the world’s most prestigious awards bodies including D&AD, Cannes, AGDA, Red Dot, Clio, Type Directors Club and IDCA.
