Jola Starzak and Dawid Strebicki - architects and urban planners. Following studies in the Netherlands and after many years of working for architectural studios in Belgium and in the Netherlands, we established in 2011 our own design studio Atelier Starzak Strebicki. We are working on furniture, interior, architectural and urban design projects and researches in Poland and in Belgium. What intrigues us about design processes is the diverse scale of design work: from furniture, through houses and interior design, up to the city planning scale. Presently our studio is working on the urban plan for the centre of Strombeek (located near Brussels). We are also fond of temporary architecture and experiments in urban fabric, such as project for the temporary public space on Plac Wolności in Poznań, which we design for the International Theater Festival Malta and the mobile urban furniture dedicated to the courtyard space of Poznań City Hall or temporary furniture for European Parliament in Brussels. Since 2011 we are collaborating with School of Form and since 2013 with architectural magazine ‘Zawód:Architekt’, writing articles aiming on introducing to Polish designers the condition of the architect’s profession in Belgium and in the Netherlands. This year, the studio got invited to participate in the 15th International Architecture Biennale in Venice. One of our projects ‘Kijkgat’ is presently being exhibited at the Biennale in the Belgian Pavilion.
