SERIES OF POSTERS, MARINA
A-8-52    Mykola Kovalenko

Marína is the longest love poem in the world, written in 1844 by the Slovak romantic writer, Andrej Sládkovič. His inspiration was his love for Mária Pišlová from Banská Štiavnica. In a vault under her house, in a 500-year-old gold mine, is the Love Bank, where couples in love from around the world can keep tokens of their love. 174 years since the poem was written, we have created for the Love Bank museum in Banská Štiavnica a series of posters celebrating love and the poem, Marína. Each of them illustrates in a modern style a selected verse from this exceptional poem and connects the old art of poetry writing with modern graphic design.
