Mark Kingsley

For almost 30 years, Mark Kingsley’s work has been wide-ranging in both experience and recognition. As Executive Strategy Director at Collins, he developed the new positioning for Ogilvy, a future life device for Bell Labs, and helped Equinox enter the luxury hotel business. While at Landor, Mark was the global creative lead on the Citi account — overseeing everything from identity systems, credit card design, intranet development, international workshops, and global brand audits. Additionally, he worked at Ogilvy’s Brand Innovation Group (BIG), created Hewlett-Packard advertising for Publicis & Hal Riney, and designed cosmetic packaging at Cosmair.

For over 17 years, his studio Greenberg Kingsley specialized in music and arts. Notable projects included several years of branding and advertising for Central Park SummerStage; products and logos for the Guggenheim Museum store; and music packaging for John Coltrane, Pat Metheny, Ted Nugent, Phil Collins, Quincy Jones, 10,000 Maniacs, Ginger Baker, Cassandra Wilson, Jewel, Bette Midler, and Yes.

His current studio, Malcontent, serves global advertising firms, fin-tech startups, arts organizations, living legends, and Pulitzer Prize winners.

All this work has been recognized with a Grammy nomination; inclusion in AIGA’s 50 Books/50 Covers; a Broadcast Design Association Gold; the Judge’s Choice from the Type Directors Club; plus a variety of AIGA, Art Directors Club and Graphis awards.

Mark speaks and writes on design and branding, and is currently a faculty member in the School of Visual Arts Masters in Branding program. In 2016 he was profiled in Print Magazine as one of “56 Inspiring Designers Shaping Our World Today.”
