Fei grew up on a farm in a small town in the southern province of Guanxi in China. Despite a rapid transformation of China, Fei was always drawn to the rural and natural areas of her hometown. The importance of a natural environment remains an important factor in her life: She is living and working together with her husband Chris Precht in the mountains of Austria where they lead a small studio called penda.
Fei received her Bachelor at the University of Guanxi in 2007 before moving to Beijing to become a Project Architect at the international acclaimed studio of Graft. In 2010 she moved to Vienna for her Masters Degree at the Angewandte where she graduated with honors in 2012.
A year later she won an international competition with her husband Chris and Dayong Sun which was the starting point of their firm penda. Since then the studio has worked on projects around the world and has won several awards. Outside of penda, Fei was working with Yintai, the largest commercial company in China, as a Vice Design Director. For the project ‘In-Kids with Linefriends’ Fei had won the Architizer A+Award for the Best Interior Project in 2017. Fei believes in the power of a natural in design and in her personal life. She tries to grow most of their own food, is a passionate chef and is opening her pottery studio in 2018 called ,April, April’.
