Rubio & del Amo is a studio focused on the creation and management of brands, campaigns, books, packaging and other objects intended as communication solutions through design and creativity.
The company was founded in late 2014 by two former university classmates who, after 12 years working separately, came together to commit to a design that would be conceptual, fresh and effective.
Within its first years the studio begins to spark the interest of international publications such as Baron Mag (Canada), Playful Graphics (China), Architectural Digest (Russia) and Novum (Germany), a fact that motivates the team to put forward their first candidature for the LAUS awards in which they win a Gold and a Bronze Laus, and later European acclaim with a Silver ADC*E Award. In the following years accolades become a constant for the studio, which goes on to receive prizes at the D&AD Awards and the Tokyo Type Directors Club.
In their 6-year career, they have given talks at design events such as the Blanc Festival (Barcelona), PlayRestart (Madrid and Valencia) and Certamen Tipos (Santander). They have worked for national and international brands as well as public institutions such as the Madrid City Council, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, and Spanish Government Institutions such as the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Ministry of Consumer Affairs.
Guillermo Rubio and Julián Garnés (del Amo) combine their work for the studio with teaching and research for various Design Master’s Degrees at the CEU University of Valencia and the Superior School of Design of Barcelona, La Basad and Insitituto42, as well as organizing design-related events such as Festival Día D.
