Varicella (chickenpox) is a highly virulent disease manifesting itself with fever, headaches, and itchy rash blisters. It was so common in our childhood, that parents in Ukraine still carelessly call it a ‘childhood condition’. But this ‘childhood condition’ happens to cause rather un-childish complications ranging from pneumonia, brain damage, and bacterial skin infections to an actual risk of dying. That is what all the parents in Ukraine should but still don’t realize. Neither they know there exists a readily available chickenpox vaccine to prevent the condition and to effectively minimize the risk of complications. To deliver the message, we created a character, called VITROLLA (a composite of ‘Vitryanka’ — ‘chickenpox’ in Ukrainian, and ‘Troll’). Right you are, VITROLLA is a chickenpox web troll. She is mean, sassy, and arrogant yet strangely amiable.” VITROLLA had got a Website of her own, that accumulated all the leads from other channels. The carefully considered scenario of VITROLLA’s Website seamlessly and interactively navigated a visitor from acquaintance with chickenpox disease to unequivocal conclusions of vaccination necessity.
