The story of 18-year-old Katerina. She is beautiful, intelligent, and by the will of her godmother raised as a young lady of noble blood, but for the whole world Katerina is only the serf of the richest landowner in Nizhyn Chervinsky. In the struggle for her freedom and the right to be happy, she will have to survive the deaths of her closest people, become the property of a woman who hates her and wants to kill, survive during a popular uprising, escape from persecution of a maniac in the frightening world of Kiev brothels and again and again flee from the one who wants to get her more than anything else.
